hi :) I just saw the ask where you disagree with Calzona having the best love story (so do I btw). But I was just wondering who you think has the best love story/development on greys? :)

little-greysanatomy answered:

Hey! :)

In all honesty, and I’m completely un-biased when I say this, I believe Jackson and April have the most interesting relationship/love story.

They have the whole friends-to-lovers aspect down, but it’s a lot more challenging than that.

(Skipping all those other ships…)

Yes, Alex and Jo both come from troubled backgrounds, but they’re too similar to one another for me to find it any sort of groundbreaking.

Callie and Arizona are losing my interest because they’ve been on a spin for ages and their storyline has never been that compelling to me.

Meredith and Derek had that will-they/won’t-they thing going on for quite some time but aside from that, their storyline isn’t actually all that fresh in my opinion. Guy cheats on wife because he got cheated on, and he falls in love with and marries his mistress. Not that great.

Owen and Cristina take second place for me because they already had baggage when they started. Cristina was still bruised from Burke’s brutal departure and Owen was suffering with PTSD. They were compelling because I wanted to watch them grow, and change, and adapt to one another because they wanted different things out of life. He wants a family, and kids, and a soccer mom as a wife while she wants a career and a safety net. They couldn’t be everything the other needed but they loved each other regardless.

But, yes, to me, Jackson and April have the most interesting romantic relationship.

They weren’t brought on as love interest for any of the characters, as plot devices for each other. They were there, around, being all friendly and occasionally flirty but they weren’t planned since their arrival on the show.

We watched them develop, and we learnt more about them, and only when it got to the point where they were accepted by the fandom, did the show decide “hmm, let’s see what happens if we put them together.”

The result: some great chemistry that had been building over a couple of seasons, an interesting relationship that went through its struggles at first, a love story that unfolded beautifully after started nowhere.

They challenge each other, which is one of the things that I look for in good relationships. They would be boring as hell if they were the same person, if they agreed on everything. No. They’re opposing. Watching an atheist love and cherish a christian is interesting, watching them have to adapt to fit each other that little bit more is entertaining. That’s a good story.

Watching two best friends fall in love and accept each other despite great differences and conflicting views on the world? That, to me, is the greatest love on this show.

Hope this answers your questions :)

honestly, the best explanation as to why Jackson and April are so good together!

grey's anatomy otp forever jackson avery april kepner jesse williams sarah drew

Can someone clarify this for me? His latest Instagram post, is it really his tats? I know it sounds stupid of me to ask but he’s been shirtless in Grey’s and in the pic he’s got like at least 3 or so tattoo’s. Does the makeup crew prep his body for shirtless scenes so he doesn’t show any of it?

Sincerely,
An amateur fan

the meaning behind baby Japril’s name - the light at the end of the tunnel

(unpopular opinion)

In the bible Samuel was a gift to a childless Hannah. She had no child for many many years and she wept to God about it. God answered her prayer for a son and named him Samuel which translates to ‘Heard of God’. Hannah kept her end of the promise by dedicating Samuel to God. The reason I’m saying this is because God doesn’t always answers when we want him to but he will answer us, at his time. It is hard to stay patient and wait, because really who really wants to right?

I think the bigger picture with Japril is ultimately, they’re going to have rebuild some of the broken faith after the loss of their son. But that’s the beauty of it. In picking up all these pieces, they’re going to show each other why they fell in love with each other in the first place. Of course there’s going to be a lot of waiting from our part (and also on Japril’s part).

Some of the interviews suggest that April is going to show a more 'grittier’ side of her - which I absolutely love. There is going to be fights and more disagreements between them. And again, these tough times are going to be define them as a couple together and they will become stronger.

PS Hannah is also the name of Sarah’s newborn daughter. (double points for Sarah’s name picking/ foreshadowing ability)

Stay, stay & stay please.

It’s been 5 years. Sometimes love finds it way back, sometimes, it gets lost in the midst of all that time. Maybe that’s why April and Jackson couldn’t make things work.

People also say that time heals wounds. With time on their side, one would assume they would have been able to make something out of their almost in shambles marriage. But that’s not what happened.

Therapist after therapist and trying after trying. After they had lost their son, they decided to try again, and again. Their sheer determination and immutable attempts in having another child, didn’t seem to tally up with their hope.

Then after came the inevitable. The despising each other, yelling back at each other back and forth and “let’s-see-who-starts-talking-first”. From there onwards, they were a lost cause. Faith, like what April had was not on their side.

So here she is with her passport at the airport. It’s her escape route really. She knows that all the love she feels for Jackson would never be able to save their marriage.

She told Jackson about her leaving and he’s only reply was “Congratulations. You deserve it”. I guess that was a given since that they were living separately and neither of them were bold enough to make a strong stand in the relationship. Fear was what was mostly holding them back. Fear that the other’s actions weren’t appreciated and the inability of the retractions of the mentioned.

“So, I heard that April’s taking the job” Meredith says as she does some paper work. Jackson stops at his what he’s doing (or more like wants to - he tries to act macho about it because what really - can he change it? She wants the job.)

“Yeah, yeah. She.. uhh, it’s great and I’m.. uh, happy. Happy for her.” He continues busying himself with work because really, he knows if he had  power to change it, he would. But he can’t. And that sucks.

Meredith notices a shakiness in his voice as he finished his words. She puts aside her work and moves closer to him to get his attention.

“I know what you’re doing.” Eyebrows raised, she looks him straight in the eye knowing exactly where she’s taking this conversation.

“I’m filling in my patient’s chart. What is it do you think I’m doing?” His voice really coming out as annoying more than responding to a pleasantry small talk. And also, not to mention, he gives her his Avery what face.

“Come on. You know that’s not what I’m talking about."He moves away and turns his back a little just to show how uninterested he is in the conversation. (Honestly, he’s dying inside just even thinking about it. Never mind hearing her name. So engaging in this conversation was a big no-no.)

"I meant April. I know what you’re doing.” This time, Mer isn’t taking any of his bull crap. She’s not buying it and she moves around the counter so she’s facing him again and starts signalling for his attention by slamming his patient’s chart close.

“You think that if you let her go, you’re doing yourself and her a huge favour isn’t it?” She has the better foot in the conversation now. Like when you’ve narrowly manage to wedge your feet in between a closing door. Narrowly, but she makes it because it catches his attentions and he responds like the real Avery she knows.

“I love her okay. But this marriage is killing us both and it’s really better if we ended this. I’m doing this because I love her okay.” He grabs his chart and walks away to somewhere he’ll be able to pay actually attention. (He can’t get distracted now because he’ll run to her at this moment. Drop everything for her and run. Like he did years ago at her wedding. Even now.)

“Don’t do it. Damnit Jackson, don’t do it.” He stops dead in his track. For some reason, he wants to hear it. What Mer has to say.

“Don’t walk away. No one said love was going to be easy. You love her and that’s all that matters. Everything else is just background. A background of your happiness, together.” He stands there for a moment before turning around.

“It’s hard okay. We tried Mer. It’s not working. We’re not working. Not together at least.” She smiles knowing exactly where to go from here.

“Nothing in this world that’s worth having comes easy. There’s no magical fixes for an unhappy marriage - it’s all up to you. Don’t make the same mistake as I did when I walked away from mine.” And at that moment he knew exactly where he needed to be. Next to April.

He tries calling her, but she doesn't pick up. At the airport, she’s almost boarding the flight and for some reason, she can’t get herself to leave her. To leave Jackson and their marriage behind. She decides to take a breather and freshens up in the ladies’ room. In there she discovers that Jackson had tried contacting her 5 times and left 2 voice messages.

She listens to the first one.

“April, don’t go. Look, I’ll explain everything once I’m there okay but please just don’t leave okay? Just hear me out - oh damnint *beep* ” She smiles at herself at her husband and his desperate attempt. (More shabby really). But she loves it anyway. She loves it.

She starts listening to the second one. His voice is faster and she can sense his heart racing (not to mention her’s as well)

“I love you April Kepner. I love you and this can’t wait. Our marriage can’t wait. I wanted you 5 years ago and I still want you. If you would just hear me out - *beep* ”

She walks out the bathroom and away from the boarding waiting area. She knows exactly where she’s supposed to be. So she waits for Jackson. Like she should have done earlier.

“Hey.” He smiles at her a little. It’s mostly a relieved one.

“I got your message Jackson.” She’s in tears but she smiling at the love of her life. "Let’s do it. Let’s not put our marriage on hold. Cause I can’t do that either, Jackson. I’m not leaving here without you.“

Jackson is a little confused and he looks at her skeptically. She realises what she just said and begins amending it, April Kepner style.

"I mean not like here to like my new place. You know- like uh, here and uh our old place. Like let’s get out of here but back to where we were you know? Like, like…” She’s really making a mess out of this whole situation. A romantic situation turned awkward just in 10 whole seconds. She closes her eyes and regains her composure and speaks again.

“I wanna go home with you Jackson. Home where we belong.” Jackson move closer to her embraces her.

“Yeah, yeah. Let’s do that.”
